Operation Red Bikini

Next Fitness Challenge is a link up with Kassie at Southern Girl gets fit. You can find all the details over on her blog.

The challenge runs until May 31st 2013 - basically you decide what your challenge is and what you are trying to get into - be it the jeans that are 2 sizes smaller than you are now, cute shorts or the little red bikini. At the end of May they will be a link up with result stories and photos.

I am going to work on toning and my "red bikini" will be super cute shorts this summer..

Tis the Season

A repost for all who are trying to fight the crowds for the last minute things....

Its the season to be freaking jolly.

Gimmie a break - Jolly my ass.

If it is the season to be jolly then why is the day after Thanksgiving referred to as Black Friday? Want to see just how jolly it is. Go to Toys R Us that Friday and watch how jolly the parents are as they claw, scream, bite and punch their way to this years "gotta have it toy".

These oh so jolly people are the same people who will steal your parking spot at the mall after you have circled the parking lot for 45 mins looking for ANY spot not already occupied, then they will have the nerve to flip you off as you slam on your breaks to avoid hitting their car as you look at them in utter shock.

Once you make it into the mall, you will be treated to frazzled mothers yelling, screaming tantrum throwning, snot running from their nose "little angels". As dear old dad looks around fervently wishing that aliens would come kidnap him and anal probe him because that would be more pleasant than dealing with the fruit of his loins and the haggard shrew that was once his glowing bride. Yeah Jolly whatfreakinever!

If you procrastinate on shopping the above scene only gets worse, the only thing that will save your ass now is a super Wal-mart at 3 am, or Christmas shopping at the local gas station.

After you brave all of this in search of the perfect gift for the oh so picky Aunt Enda, pain staking gift wrap it in the perfect paper. Carefully transport it to the specified family gathering place and smilingly hand it to her. She will then rip the paper to shreds, turn said object in all directions then look at you as if you punched in the nose and gave her tickets to the nearest fat farm and say "Well I see you grabbed the first thing you saw in the discount bin at the dollar store".

Next year do yourself a favor purchase gift certificates on-line and then book yourself a week at the spa..

Tis the season to be freaking jolly... Bite me Santa

It was the end of the world that wasn't ....

So we are still here the earth is still rotating and the doomsdayers are figuring out a way to spin the latest "Oh wait we did the math wrong".  In all reality it was just the end of an era and the start of a new one.  So I am glad I paid my credit card bills and didn't consume three times my body weight in cheesecake "just in case".

What I am working on is finishing up Christmas shopping on this last weekend before the holiday.  I just had a few gifts and stocking stuffers to pick up - which I got most of done today.  I have to go back to the craft store after price checking to pick up the second to last gift, then head back to the mall (yes I went to the mall on the Saturday before Christmas - I am truly insane) to pick up a last minute OMG its perfect gift that will be ready.

Friday my wonderful grandson turned 7 months old - wow this year is going super fast.  I can't believe he is already 7 months old and growing like a weed.  Unfortunately the lil guy is sick with RSV at the moment so we are playing Christmas by ear and waiting to see if he will be well enough to go to the family dinner at my sister-in-laws.  Fingers are crossed that he feels better soon - if for nothing else the poor guy is miserable.  It amazes me that with as sick as he is, he is still smiling and laughing - he is such a laid back lil dude.

On the fitness front I am just maintaining at the moment and will ramp back up come Jan 2.  I am by no means going crazy and eating everything in sight but I am eating a lil of whatever I want. Then come Jan 2 its balls to the walls at the gym - newest goal is toning.  I am not going to hide come this summer in jeans and oversized shirts - its to freaking hot for that shit.  Plus we are planning another family trip to Hawaii come Spring of 2015 and I WILL like the pictures I am in this time around of the vacation!

I also have plans to start working my knee again and it get back in order so that I can participate in the Diva Dash come March - its one of my favorite 5ks.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!! Happy Holidays

Talk to us Tuesday - Link up

Today is shaping up to be a Kill it - Kill it with FIRE sorta day.. Starting with waking up a half hour late this morning and going from there.  I got my new glam bag last night and was super thrilled to test out its contents - tip of the day, don't try out new products when you are running late. I'm rocking the ":glam fairy emo" smokey eye this morning.

My new earrings came yesterday as well so I am sporting them.. Love a great deal - I got them on ebay for 47 cents which included shipping! I'm patiently waiting for the rest of my ebay auctions to get here. I am waiting for a few 8 bracelets to show up, a necklace and a ring total for all over it $27 ..

I finally found a new purse and it arrived over the weekend, hey don't judge, yes it seems like a lot of stuff over the past few weeks, BUT its been over a year since I bought a new purse, and I needed new clothes and accessories to match - none of my old clothes fit .. they are a few sizes to big! WOOT so glad to be able to say that now.

So far since I started with FitCamp (end of July beginning of Aug) I'm down 20 lbs. I did hit goal but I am thinking 5 more lbs need to go and I am working on getting really toned. So far I am just maintaining - which is pretty good for a holiday season.  Right now I am in the middle of the plank/squat challenge which ends Dec 31st.

And now for the pictures

Notes From the Universe

I subscribe to a daily email called Notes From the Universe.. I love these more often than not they are little gems that either make you smile or go AH.. this one is form 11/2/12 I read it this morning and both smiled and went AH..

KayLynn, you chose to be who you now are, you came here
to thrive, the odds always seem steep, the game is rigged in
your favor, you knew what you were doing, your demons
aren't real, fear was part of the deal, love is all you need,
you're never alone, thoughts become things... and you still
look absolutely amazing in jeans.

Beaming,
    The Universe

All of the above puts a neat little bow on a few of the beliefs I truly do
hold stock in:

1. No one can change your life except you - if you don't like it do something
about it. Life is either to short or to long to be miserable.

2. If you ignore your life it will ignore you right back!

How things turn out is entirely up to you. Life doesn't happen to you
YOU happen to life - make it what you want it to be. If its not what
you dreamed it to be make a change - either to get back on the path or
change the dream.

Get out there and make the most out of life - be the best you that you can be!!

The week wrap up

WOW what a week.. I knew it was going to be I just didn't know HOW much of a week it was.

Let me back up to Thanksgiving...  Had a blast with the fam. I did watch what I ate but I ate what I wanted if that makes sense.  Then I vegged out with my SIL (ok hid out from the football, back in her bedroom) ...  watched tv, shopped on line and scoped the BF (Black Friday) ad's for the next day.

For the first time ever I actually did shop BF. I went to Kohl's and made a killing. I managed to get a little over $600 in clothes (for me :-) I really needed them) for a little over $200 and I got $65 in Kohl's cash AND they mailed me a 20 % off coupon for this week - so I am headed there tonight to finish up.

The rest of the weekend was uneventful, I cleaned the heck out of my house and got some order restored there and pretty much thought I was getting ready for the next week. 4 am Monday morning however found The Hubs and I in the ER where he was admitted to the hospital where he stayed until last night. Glad to have him home now!!

Wednesday I hit my goal weight... It took a few hours for me to realize this however with everything that was going on. I weighed that morning added it to the groups weight for the holiday challenge then a few hours later I went HOLD ON A SECOND.. I MADE GOAL WOOHOOO!!!!!

My knee is doing wonderfully so I am gearing up to start actually working out again, my goal now is to be toned.  Jillian Ripped in 30 here I come!!!

Yesterday I got the presale code for concert tickets .... not just any concert BON JOVI!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have wanted to see Bon Jovi live since I was 15 years old ... so this is one of those bucket list things. I am beyond excited, I am like one of those little chihuahua dogs who's gets so excited to see you they pee on your foot.  The concert is not until April so I can see the excitement level only going up from here.

This weekend I am hoping to just chill - I am at the level just above exhausted and need some downtime.  What are your weekend plans??

Dear Wendy's

This is not lettuce, it is a piece of core which in no way tastes good or adds anything to the salad SO STOP PUTTING IT IN MY EFFIN SALAD!!!

While I realize that growing season has officially ended I am not stupid most of this is imported anyhow, stop charging me $6 for a salad then fill it with inedible crap  - Dave Thomas would not be please, and neither am I!

Progress update

I'm so close to goal its unreal... I realize now this mean I have to put thoughts into if this is actually my goal or if I want to take it a little further.  I'm not talking anything major just a 5 lb range to flux a little instead of trying to be ridged about it

I haven't been real ridge through this whole journey to begin with. I am not one of those types that deprive themselves of something because its "bad". I see people all the time posting they feel guilty because they had a tootsie roll.. Hell I don't, its a treat - its meant to be consumed once in awhile - what should make you feel bad or guilty is having an entire bag of tootsie rolls in a 15 minute time frame.

My thinking on this is if I am not going to indulge every once in awhile whats the point? Life is meant to be enjoyed not endured. Lighten up ladies - have the slice of cake, just don't call the whole cake a slice!

a few closer to goal pics - I don't know what it is bout I love the black and white - The bottom pic just wasn't my day - there is something 'off' about it..

Glam Bag vs Birch Box

Awhile back I cancelled my Birch Box (AKA BB from here out) subscription and signed up for Glam Bag (GB from now on) as I was disappointed from day one with BB and I gave it 5 boxes to impress me.  I just wasn't wow'ed with anything in the BB save the cleanser that came in one of the boxes.

They promise 1 full sized item and 4 or 5 samples in each box. They did deliver on that, but the items that were tossed in each box made me feel like they didn't even glance at the questionnaire I had to fill out to even sign up, this feeling was reinforced when I a short haired gal received a ponytail holder.

My first GB came Wednesday night (picture below) - I am thrilled with it!! Same price ($10 a month) as BB but they have 3 or 4 full sized items with 1 or 2 samples and it comes in a handy bag small enough to go in your purse yet big enough to fit your basics in it.  I tore open my purple metallic mailer last night and dug into a full sized bottle of Nailtini polish in a holiday glittery mix - it does go on better than I expected when you look at the bottle - its clear with specks of glitter in it as opposed to WHAM glitter raped your finger nail. There is a full sized eye liner from Starlet in a rich chocolate color (I'm sporting this today and love it) a full sized brow defining gel, a full sized Bare Minerals lip floss from their brand new Moxie collection and a sample of chocolate eye shadow from Balm and the chocolate brown makeup bag.

I can't wait to see what next months Bag brings..

Pinterest Fail

Last weekend I attempted a easy cobbler with 3 ingredients and the blogger swore it was AMAZING... yeah whatevs this stuff was uhh well the cat didn't want it and he licks his own butt ok...

Needless to say this has been deleted from my boards.. Here are the pics...

What its SUPPOSED to look like

My "charming" version

Now this is deceptive and really does deserve a punch in the face as it SMELLS divine while its baking.. The taste well do yourself a favor SKIP it.. 2 bags of frozen fruit, 1 cake mix and a can of sprite do NOT a cobbler make. My Southern relatives are planning my demise over this attempted short cut..

The place where the title goes

Titles are not my specialty - but I do get tired of recycling the same ones so I think I'll just start using odd ones that fit nothing in the post. That will be my "thing" when it comes to the blog. Well other than the attitude LOL!

I can't believe Thanksgiving is next week - where the hell did the year go?? Soon it will be time for my year in review post. Which I am contemplating in not only doing the Questionnaire RadioViven shared years ago I will toss pictures of this years events as well.

Usually this time of year I panic - not this year, I am almost done with ALL my Christmas shopping and I went simple this year.  I am just a few pounds away from my goal weight.  Life is good and I am as relaxed as I ever get.  I do have a few things on the "do before the end of the year" list but none of it is major.  Mainly I am going to go through closets and donate that shit. My goal for next year is to simplify life and to tone up and keep off the weight.

I am now 2 weeks post op on the knee and its getting better - still stiff and swollen but I am less inclined to carve it off and beat my wonderful Ortho surgeon with it now.  I have progress pics of that and a few other pics at the end.  I have been doing the exercises they send me home doing - I should be more regular at accomplishing them but honestly I forget to stop every hour and flex and extend that leg.  Its a process that takes 6 weeks so 4 to go!

Lil Man turns 6 months old this month (the 21st) and I am just floored by that. It doesn't seem possible - oh hell it doesn't seem possible his Mama is 21 but she is.. He is growing like a weed and we are amazed by him on a daily basis - these days his favorite thing to do is grab his toes then lay on his back holding them while alternating between blowing you raspberries and laughing. Cutest thing ever! (yep I'm biased.... SHUSH!)

Now for the pics!

Sometimes you just need a hand up

One of the blogs I follow is Erin's at shesabigstar her post today is called Love wins  and it brought me to tears.

With her permission I have linked to it to spread the word about Momastery which posts requests for people needing a hand up - most of which have me at my desk crying in my office ..  Please head over to Erin's corner of the blogging world and read her post - then see if there is any assistance you can provide to http://monkeeseemonkeedo.org/ ..

Lordy what a two weeks its been..

Sorry it has been over two weeks - life happened. We have been super busy and now getting in to the Holiday fury.. (Pictures to follow) Its also 4 am and I can't sleep so here is the way late and long winded update..

Week before last family was in town, my Earnie (my ex), Laura (his wife) and my 3 godsons were here to finally meet Lil Man and visit the fam (they have had a lot of stuff come up and this was the first chance they have had to make the 12 hour drive). Its been a few years since we were all together.

We had a good time catching up and just hanging out - I can't believe how much the godson's have grown - yeah yeah I KNEW they were older but having it in your face is totally different!! LOL.  Friday night Laura Peep and I went to the piano bar and we had a blast - I may have rediscovered my love affair with some absolute and cranberry (goes down smooth LOL).  The piano bar is always a good time.  This hot mama also got hit on by a very drunk very lewd guy in a suit that was there for a bachelor party or something - his lines were pitiful but it was an ego boost never the less..

Saturday we all ventured to the WW1 war museum in town and had an equally good time - My oldest godson and his dad are huge military enthusiasts - which has roots in the fact that all the families on all the sides have HUGE military histories - we all have veterans in the family tree.  We came back home and Laura made us a wonderful dinner of Marsala chicken - The Hubs and I promptly ate all the leftovers the next day for lunch! Laura and I may have done some shopping that weekend as well *wink*

Sunday they had to leave early to start the long ass drive home - it was a short visit but jam packed with fun and laughs. Lil Man also turned 5 months old Sunday

Also the my new wedding set came in (we were waiting on the band) and I am loving it - Thank you Hubs your the BEST - true ROCK STAR..

Last weekend was the gangs annual Halloween party hosted by good friends of ours. I may have continued my vodka love affair that night as well (I am not a lush and rarely drink I just happened to do it 2 weekends in a row.. Hell until this past Saturday The Hubs, and my sister and brother in law and all of our friends have NEVER seen me under the influence -  and Hubs and I have been together almost 12 years)

This past Tuesday (10/30/12) was the Madonna concert - it was an experience in one of my long time faves turning her music in to concept art. Over all I enjoyed it but really wished there were a few more of the early hits. I realize its been 25 years and shes grown artistically and has a new album out - but a true rendition of Like a Virgin would have made my night!!!

Yesterday - Friday I had my knee surgery - its going pretty well - swollen and I have a partial beidadine tan on my left leg and a HUGE bandage and wrap - but all that will go away soon enough and I can get back to getting active!! I am missing working out (whoa did I say that?? Who IS this chick??)

This weekend I plan to rest and attempt to vote early tomorrow - we need to a little grocery shopping but my main plan is to be bff's with the couch and the DVR..

Now for the pictures

5 Months - we have teeth!

 Grandpa and Lil Man
Lil Man and his Uncles (my Godsons)

Post surgery - be kind to your knees!!

Lil Man at Papaws birthday dinner

Halloween party - Mad Men theme

Closer to goal!!

Size 10 Rock & Republic Jeans!! HOLLA!!

New Wedding set - The Hubs is a ROCK STAR..

Half way there!!!

As of yesterday morning I am half way to my fitness goal so I bought myself a present .. Can NOT wait until they get here..

At present time I am in 2 challenges - one of which due to illness I am WAY behind - however you are not supposed to work out when your sick "below the neck", since I am coughing up anything and everything I have yet to be able to get back to my 31 day Jillian challenge - or in my case the 1 day Jillian challenge ~ that I totally effin rocked LOL.

The second is a Holiday Fitness challenge to keep us motivated through Thanksgiving - this one is done in teams of 5 ladies. At the end there are prizes so I am so hoping we kick ass!!

This next week is going to be fairly busy we have family coming in on Thursday.  I am hoping the weather holds and it doesn't get to cold so we can get out and enjoy some of the fall events around the city.

Have a great weekend!!

Family Drama .. does it EVER end??

Its really no secret that I have 3 sisters and a niece I never speak to.. Each for individual reasons.  None of them attempt to reenter into my life and I don't go stirring up theirs. It works - hell at this point I am pretty sure that unless our mother mentions me my name is not on their lips - I like it that way.

I know its odd and most people are "my sister is my bestie" meh not mine - and honestly a lot of that is because I am the baby and I am a late in life baby - my sisters were pretty much all out of the house when I made my surprising entrance so there was no bonding. I'm ok it, we come for totally different generations and frankly even though they grew up on the 60's those baby boomers are pretty judgmental creatures. I am very close to my sister in law and get my "sister time" with her.

My niece on the other hand even though she is not in my life decides every few years she needs to stir the pot.. lil witch did it again this weekend.  Honestly does this shit end? Whats the purpose? Why do people make shit up spread rumors then sit back in shock while several family members are hurt, upset and riled up?? As doctor Phil would say whats the pay off for you? My part of the family has left you alone - there is not poking of the witch we do our own thing yet you feel the need to surface every once in awhile waving your bitch flag and stirring the pot.

Do all families have issues similar? If there is someone you cut out of your life do they resurface every few years disrupt things then go into the wings until the next time??

Hey Hey its Friday!!! Week recap

I seriously need a title generator!! I think the next one is going to be insert title here.

Sorry I have been missing all week - I went and landed me a cold that quickly turned into a sinus infection.. Which has been the norm ever since my sinus surgery a few years back (appx 6) - worst surgery EVER  I really wished I had never consented to having it done. I still have the migraine headaches and now if you sneeze on me -  bam I have a sinus infection.

I got in a Yoga meltdown workout in on Monday but that has been it for the week due to the illness.. Yoga Meltdown wow - the only thing I can say there is HOLY ROLLING SIDE PLANKS BATMAN!!  I am looking forward to getting back at it though after my head clears a bit more.. This weekend I will hit the treadmill and work up from there .

Last night we met up with family who had come in from out of state - Its always fun seeing Aunt June - Then The Hubs took me over to get new jeans mine were to big!! Found 2 pairs of skinny jeans that are a size smaller!! WOOT That always makes for a good day.

My knee surgery has been scheduled for Nov 2nd then I have about 6 weeks were I have to take it easy  - so no jumping rope or running (2 things I HATE lol).

That's how my week went - how was yours??

Getting ready to start the 31 day Jillian challenge

Fit camp has a new challenge within the 60 day challenge - the Jenn's are calling it 31 days of being Jillian Michael's biotch - I'm gonna make her my bitch LOL!!

This weekend I am picking up my stickers (who doesn't love stickers on a calendar!) and a new knee friendly DVD like 6 week 6 pack or Yoga Meltdown and its on like donkey kong!! I printed out the calendar and am ready!!

How are you spending your October??  What are your goals before the holiday season kicks into high gear?

In other news Kansas City is getting an IKEA!! HOLLA It won't be until 2014 but its in the works - wow Trader Joes and IKEA and nothing for you Gretchen Weiners (sorry yeah I went there :-0)

Wordy Wednesday

So yesterday was the appointment with the Orthopedic Surgeon - he won't do surgery until he see's an MRI so that is scheduled for Saturday morning - I was thrilled to find out they do weekend appointments and I do have to attempt to fit that into a work day. About 5 days after that he should have the results  time to read them.  Everything is electronic it doesn't take 5 days to get results but I am not about to piss off the guy who's going to be rooting around in my knee.

I also got cleared to go back to doing light workouts.. YAY!! They are a totally stress relief for me and for some reason when I am not working out my brain disconnects and my mouth eats anything no nailed down.  Bad news is I am out of the 5K game for the rest of the season.  So I have to pull out of the Strides for Breast Cancer 5K in Oct.

Small scale victory I am down a pound despite eating like hell for a week. My knee finally stopped holding on to the water to protect it. The swelling has gone down in both legs!! WOOT

I have signed on to do a 31 day Jillian challenge - I need to go pick up her yoga DVD this weekend - that's about the only one I can do right now without modifying them massively - no jumping jacks or squats for a while.

And because its Wednesday a pic of Lil Man  - and yes that's my cat next to him ...

What to read after 50 Shades... and other stuff

I just finished both Seduction & Snacks and book 2 Futures & Frosting By Tara Sivec LOVED them both. Some parts of them had me laughing so hard my sides are aching. Shes got a sailors mouth as do I and when stressed says whatever comes to mind. Gavin (the 4 year old son in the book) seriously cracks me up, he says all the inappropriate things in 4 year old speak and will take on Drew (his father's best friend) in all seriousness, I do adore the fact that Drew talks to him just as he would a peer who pulls the same stuff.

Check the books out   Seduction & Snack and book 2 Futures & Frosting

Now I have to find something else to read. That is the issue with really good books, you want them to last and last and when you hit the end you feel sorta of bummed and it takes a while to find something that holds your interest.

What have y'all been reading out there that you enjoy?

Tomorrow is my Ortho appt so I can see whats going on with the knee - I am hoping to be allowed to go back to working out. I have been a titch restless (hmm who'd have ever thought that would happen) and getting stressed a lot easier without having an outlet. I need to be cleared to do something - even if its just ab work on a mat.

Friday the Hubs and I had a date night at an Italian place where everything is homemade - I do believe I ate  my weight in pasta and tirmesu  which I could happily eat and entire pan of on a daily basis and call it a day.

Saturday I puttered around the house and watched lil man and the Hubs went to my sister in law's and chilled.  Sunday was errand day and I found a new outfit at Kohl's. Tonight I am headed to the nail salon then the couch to relax and see whats on the TV.

More 10k pictures

The 10 K pics from the organizers are out so:

Round mile 2 and really feeling good

On Main st

Limping across the finish line - I cut the finish clock off as it doesn't count - I did not do the middle 2 miles off the race I did little over 4 almost 4.5 miles.  I was at mile 3 when my knee blew and I was directed to make a right and cut across the bridge and around the corner which would drop me off at mile 5 then the last mile into the finish.

I have an appt on Tuesday with the orthopedic surgeon to see where I stand (lean) with this knee, right now I have my fingers crossed he will allow me to do light workouts.  I am also hopeful that whatever is truly going on we can resolve it soon - there is a mustache dash next month I'd like to do - its a 5k. I think i'll stick to those for a good long while,

Last Sunday's race..

Sorry its late - Monday my post was on the Versatile Blogger Award (which still rocks my socks off Thanks Jenn!!!) So here is the run down now..

Everything started off just fine we were walking a good pace - I had my over the counter knee brace on and was optimistic.  Mile 1 went great! Somewhere half in mile 2 I started to have issues - the knee kept slipping and I would slow down and stretch it back into place, about the 3rd time I did this (about mile 3) I started to hear and feel clicking, not just the normal grinding but a click that reminded me of opening my high school locker..

I'm at this point thinking well shit I'm in the middle of this how the hell do I make it 3 miles more miles when I am now limping at a moderate pace. I stopped for a few seconds and braced on a telephone pole at the intersection and attempted to stretch it out again - this time no dice I took one step and about face planted.  The office blocking traffic at the intersection managed to see that and directed me to turn right and head up the bridge which would drop me at mile 5 then I could limp the last mile plus over the finish line..

So that's what I did and I limped right over to the sports medicine tent and had the sports Dr look it over - his best conclusion - torn meniscus. The urgent care clinic I went to after said the same. I have an appointment with the Ortho Surgeon next Tuesday for options.

I did get a finishers metal, one of the gals at the finish told me I had more than earned it when I tried to give it back to her since I took a shortcut albeit KC's finest told me to and I was brought up to listen to the boys in blue. She put it on my neck and told me it stays. So its hanging at home with my Glow metal - and I am kinda a little prouder of that one - it seriously was sweat and tears to earn it!

Side note I did get a new fangled knee brace out of the deal as well from urgent care - it makes it worse so its in a bag beside my desk ;-)

A few 10K pics

Ready to go (lord I look like a freaking giant)

Versatile blogger award & post 100

Jenn at Thin Again Jenn nominated me for the Versatile blogger award  I think its fitting that this comes right at my 100 posts milestone.. Thanks Jenn!

According to Jenn, the rules of receiving this 'award' are:
1. Nominate up to 15 fellow bloggers who are relatively new to blogging
2. Let the nominated bloggers know they have been nominated
3. Share 7 random facts about yourself
4. Thank the blogger who nominated you and link back to them in your post
5. Add the Versatile Blogger Award picture to your post

So random facts:

1. One of the first things I notice about people is their hands - Nails and jewelry especially fascinate me.

2. I have worn acrylic on my own nails since I was 14 - My mother used to practice on me when she was in school for her license. I blame her for the obsession with nails :-)

3. I LOVE the idea of super high heels and I am totally jealous of those who can wear them.

4. I have a strange toy collection in my office at work - which does include a stuffed Darth Vader Easter bunny.

5. I love elephants and have several figurines on my desk - but they have to be really cool ones that have personality.

6. I can not stand to have my hands dirty - I been that way since I was a little girl - I even mix meat with gloves. I am also a germ a phobe I open doors with the sleeve of my sweaters and push elevator buttons with my knuckles.

7. I am fiercely loyal to some people - though when you screw me over or hurt me terribly I will ruthlessly cut you out of my life - I have a sister I have no spoke to since 1997 for that reason.

I am nominating:

And the weekend is here and I am random today..

Its the 10K weekend.. Going to pick up my packet tomorrow - race is early Sunday morning.  Went last night and got a new hair style of sorts - we changed up the color and tamed the bob back down (that sounded way dirty lol) I was wearing the back messy and slightly spiked so that's what she calmed down.   She added the red back into my hair - for the longest time we just highlighted.

I'm tuning in satellite radio here - Sirrus anyone??

The back is red as well at the bottom - I just don't like the picture where the back shows LOL - I do love that where the blonde goes into the red it looks pink!

I need to update my measurements this weekend - I'm debating on if I should do that on Monday or Sat. Its been 6 weeks since I took them so its time.

Fall hit - boo hiss I am a summer girl I love the warmer weather and less layers my favorite shirt is a ribbed tank with cutoff shorts and flip flops..  yeah yeah sweaters and boots I get it - I just don't want it!

After Sunday I am starting the Ripped in 30 on the days I don't have baby duty - on the days I do the Hubs can hang with lil man for an hour while I hit the treadmill.

Speaking of lil man - holy hell he is going to be 4 months soon -( next Friday actually, so I'll have to get a new pic of him up) ... WTF - I'm not sure where the time went - I swear it moves faster with grandbabies than it does your kids.

Told you I was completely random today my brain went into ADD mode this morning at 6:20 am and has been on overtime ever since.

And this is post #99! Have a great weekend..

Blog link up - a day in the life

Doing Holly's blog link up..

6:15 am the alarm goes off and the snooze button proceeds to get hi until 6:45 - so I think 4 or 5 times... I am NOT a morning person - in the quest to have a real functioning adult life though I no longer work a night shift. (Yes you can find night shift in the corporate world)

6:45am stumble to the bathroom use the potty and step on the scale - if I remembered to grab my glasses as I am falling out of bed (literally ours is up on 7' risers making it hip height for a 5'11 gal) determines on if I can see the display or not.

6:48 am head back to the bedroom and warn the hubs that the light is coming on - he covers his head with the blanket, find an outfit generally jeans, flats and a dressy than a T top.

7:00 am head to the bathroom to brush teeth and put make up on - touch up hair - some days this is totally dry shampoo and a quick pass of the flat iron on any section not behaving

7:10 (yes it really is just 10 mins and yes I do wear a full face of make up) head to the kitchen take vitamins, allergy pills. Prep my protein shake and if I made lunch the night before that from the fridge.

Anywhere between 7:10 and 7:20 head out the door for the drive to work - I pass 3 starbucks on the way to work - If I have left at 7:10 and feel like the calories are worth it that morning I will stop for a Grande Soy Latte

7:30 ish depending on what time I left arrive at the office and head upstairs - toss protein shake in the fridge and go log on my pc - check emails from the night before

8:00am the work day starts - not really going to say much about this because I don't blog about work - I will just say I love my job - I work in the field of IT management.

9 ish am drink my shake

11 ish is lunch and I read the news on the interwebs (I am a news junkie - I read them all CNN, MSANBC, Fox etc I also read the gossip sites) I may blog like I am today.

3 pm afternoon snack - usually a Luna Bar

5pm - day's over workwise - if I don't have errands to run or gandbaby sitting to do I workout in my office and leave at 6

6:30pm at home and starting dinner

7:00 chill for a bit watching tv usually a Criminal Minds, CSI or Big Bang episode - they are always in reruns or something I DVR-ed.

8: 00pm - shower time so I can have time to dry and tame my hair for the next day.

Between 10 and 11 pm is bedtime.

Trying to figure out how and where to fit it all in

Between work all the errands keeping up with dinner and the house, my workouts are back burner again. I don't work out in the mornings because frankly its a miracle I am up at 6:30 to get ready for work. I have naturally frizzy hair so showers are the night before so it can be tamed. Therefore working out would mean 5 am wake ups so I could workout, shower then dry and flat iron the hair - yeah not going to happen. So that leaves the evening in which I am pretty much responsible for the running of the house - why does that fall to the women?

How do y'all fit it all in and keep the household happy for the most part?

And the scale moves

FINALLY!!! With the research I did on the subject I now know its normal to hold or even gain when you first start a workout - your muscles are retaining water and swelling a bit to protect them for the "damage" that you are doing by working. This generally resolves around week 3 and you see the scale move. SO stick with it and don't get discouraged if this is where you happen to be at the moment .. it WILL happen.

Friday I soaked off my pink & whites and had the gel manicure done - not sure if I am leaving them off yet or not - time will tell - while they are not horribly short they are way shorter than I am accustomed to.

Here is before and after - Blogger refuses to let me do them side by so so whatev...

2 weeks to go before the 10k

HOLY CRAP!!! I am so not ready.. I have been working out but NOT walking - I have concentrated on yoga, The Shred and weight training.. At the moment I am doing serious bunt kicks to my own ass.  I did go get me a knee brace but that's ALL the prep I have done for this race.

Ok breathe - I have 2 weeks still and can get some walking in during that time.  I already know I won't be setting any PR's for this race - I never expected to.  Those who are walking me can just meet me at the finish line when I drag my ass across it then we can go hydrate and refuel with carbs... Thankfully my sister in law is doing this one with me and she loves me so she won't be out to throttle me! LOL

In other news I have decided to take off my pink & white acrylics and get a get manicure - I will soak them off tonight and get the mani tomorrow. Every since I started taking Biotin and drinking a protein shake every morning for breakfast my own seem to be pretty hearty so we will see. I'll post before's and afters.  I'm looking forward to just relaxing with the TV and soaking these off tonight.  I have worked out every night this week and plan to tomorrow before my nail appt I feel like a night off is earned.

The scales not moving much but the jeans certainly are

So the scale isn't moving a whole lot - but my jeans are! They are loser and a few pairs I can yank off without unbuttoning them!! I was getting discouraged however that the scale wasn't showing a difference - so I did what all fit campers do I tossed up side by side comparison pics - let me tell you it does make a difference to see pictures side by side. That tell me what I need to know - what I am doing IS working and to keep on keeping on. Ultimately my goal is to be toned and fit and to be in a size 8/10. I have ready picked out my present to me when I hit that goal.

Last night I stopped at Target and they had some of Jillian's DVD's on sale so I picked up 2 new ones Ripped in 30 and Extreme Shed & Shred - I think I will try the Extreme Shed & Shred tonight  so we will see how that goes.

Here are the progress picks .. the top set were taken Aug 1st when I started Fit Camp - and the bottom ones were taken Aug 20th when I ramped the Shred back up.

Wednesday Confess Sess

I can't wear heels anymore so I have turned into a sneakerhead.  My first pair of Adidas are due in today and I am beyond excited. I use...
