End of Another Weekend and another Summer - Weekend Shenanigans

Saturday was officially the first day of Fall - the weather knew it as well it was so mild out. Mid 70's light breeze and I did laundry and made the 1st pan of homemade jambalaya. Apparently the Cardinals won their game - I can NOT get Royals games here to save my life - they tease you, will show  you the pregame all the interviews and then right as you think ok mayyybeeeee... Then BAM a really rude blackout screen that says NOPE not happening. Ok well maybe it says, This game is blacked out in your viewing area  RUDE AF. It is cable to boot its not like I am trying to fake a local channel into showing it.

Saturday night I vegged in front of the TV and watched Jurassic World and Infinity Wars both pretty good movies. I'm trying to not just dismiss movies with a "not my thing" and watch them anyhow. I am glad I watch both of these they were pretty good. I do have to admit to being jumping in parts of Jurassic World too! I have realized I have not one clue about a lot of the back stories in the various comic book movies so I was a little "huh" at how some of them related - so I aim to fix that as it was a really good movie.

Sunday I played a few rounds Words with Friends watched some more TV then went and washed and did a quick detail on the Jeep. I really needed to get the bugs off from last months KC trip then the drive to the farm for the girls weekend. Sunday was pretty much the perfect lazy day with just enough getting done so that you felt like you were not a total bum. Though I do LOVE a total lazy bum Sunday - planning one next Sunday actually!

Hope your weekend was what you needed it to be - whatever that was, either totally productive or lazy as can be. Both are good - balance is key!

Wait - Where did August Go??

I can't beleive its August 22nd already.  There is exactly 1 month of Summer left.. WHAT???

So what have you been up to this Summer?  I've been doing a bit of everything and have been all over.  I just came back from KC - my little ladybug just turned two and her mama 27. Good grief they all just need to slow down.  Little man just turned 6 in May. I swear do NOT blink people - it flies.

After 15 years my trusty Mazda had given all she had to me and I had a retire her.  That was a bittersweet day. It was time but still - that car had taken my daughter all over. Orchestra rehearsals, competitions, a few okay a lot of road trips. I even brought her and little man home from the hospital in my Zoomy after he was born. Truth be told, she was showing her age bad and now with me living in St Louis, I was getting more and more concerned about getting around safely. I have a 2-hour daily commute that she was having issues keeping up with.

For a long time now I have wanted a smaller SUV - especially with driving in the winters so I test drove and fell in love with a Jeep Compass Latitude 4x4 - so I brought her home. This past weekend I took the Jeep on our first road trip when I went back to KC for the weekend. Oh my - the difference was amazing. When you drive something every day you get very used to certain things and you no longer notice how rough the drive is or how sore you are because the seats have been beyond broken in.  My trip this time was much more comfortable and pleasant. It's still a long borning drive but at least now I float down the road!

Next weekend is our annual girls weekend - though its been a few years since I have been able to get to it. I am this year. So I will be headed to the farm for the "Bitches Labor Day" party. I am looking forward to just hanging out with my tribe and catching up. Moonshine has been made and all formal plans canceled!!!

What is everyone else up to? Any major blowouts to end Summer?

Tap Tap Hi There

So despite the fact I am not a fan of fall or winter, fall is here.. May I will get back to a regular blogging schedule.. I spent Labor Day weekend in St Louis with some girlfriends we had a blast. Four days of non stop belly laughs, drinking and fun. I was sad to see it end. It had been years since we were all together in the same place. That won't happen again we will be getting together more often.  I am hoping to make it to Kentucky soon to hang with my twin.

Friday we got in late, unpacked then hit the vodka and the game Cards Against Humanity.  Holy shit what fun that was. I will buying the game. Saturday was hanging out and a tour of Ferguson. We stopped at the shoe design factory there. Eight women in a place with 2 million shoes... No one purchased a thing! Sunday night we caught the drag show at The Olive Bar. Nice bar, if you are ever in St Louis stop by.

I had taken the rest of the week off so I have been on vacation for 9 days.   I had a pedicure and a massage. Cleaned out my closet and straightened up the house. I have a pile of things to donate, some things hit the trash. I have some more things to go through but it was a good start. I spent the week with curly hair and yoga pants. It was fabulous. I told almost no one I was on vacation and took the week to do anything and everything I wanted.

Tomorrow I have to go back to the real world and real pants. I am sure I have a ton of things waiting on me at the office. I had even turned off email notifications on my cell for the 9 days.  I am not looking forward to going through all of those! I needed the break though so I will keep that in mind while I pull my hair out!

My goals for the rest of September are to finish up purging no longer needed items. Clean my eating back up and to get back to the gym, slowly as to not piss my back off again. I also am going to make more of an effort to blog again on a more regular basis.

What are your September goals?

And With That Summer Was Gone..... and an Explanation...

I can not believe Summer is over already - well the last official weekend of Summer anyhow. My facebook feed is packed with "thank goodness Fall is coming" - one person even put up the official count of 22 days or something like that... BLECK.

No I don't care that Starbucks now has Pumpkin Spice Lattes back or that soon the trees will be turning and the Holiday season is around the corner.. Sorry not sorry I am a tank and flips sorta gal so I dread - just dread colder weather. Two things I like about fall - scarfs - and if I can wear them with a tank and maxi all the better and darker nail polish! Cute boots used to be on this list, but I could NOT find ones I really like the past 2 years so we are in fight.

Yes, I did hit the dark nail polish already.. Thought I have been known to rock it in July as well. Just when September hits no one looks at you funny.  I will also admit to wearing some new sweats, they are super soft yet not real heavy and were perfect when the thunder storm hit and I got a little chilled.

So I have been MIA for about 5 weeks or so, I had a lot going on, there were a TON of changes going on in my life. My daughter and grandbaby have moved in with D and I. That has been an adjustment. A HUGE adjustment.  So at the moment I am trying to get into a somewhat normal pace.

I also wanted to catch my breath and figure out if I wanted to continue blogging. I have been blogging off and on since 2005 - that is a long fricken time..

In the beginning I think I had 3 readers total so this blog was really just a digital journal for my eyes only. I threw everything on here and censored nothing.  I still don't really censor anything but I do keep in mind when I am posting that I have more than 3 readers now and that tossing everything out there like a WWE match is probably not the best idea. I have also taken some posts down that were published in that particular format.

I came to the conclusion that I like blogging actually and that there may not be a rhyme or reason to what I put up or how and that is fine, its what makes it mine. So what if I do a 2 week stint of random posts or my titles don't match any of my content. Last time I checked I am pretty fricken quirky any way ;-)!

Caught up with an old friend last night.... and the last few days of Summer

I finally got my ass back to the gym last night. Its been a crazy Summer and I really had no motivation to get off the couch after working all day. So last night I pretty much forced myself to go. Thing is I think I slept better and work up with more energy - its a hell of a cycle being to tired to go to the gym but the gym will give you more energy.

So this is what my stats on fitbit showed at the end of the day, yes (I went to bed at 10:16) - been a long time since I have seen anything close to this..

Yeah I'm still no doing stairs those are just the ones I am forced to go up in order to get in my front door. I go down them all day a work, but my left knee still hurts way to much going up so I rarely hit that step goal of 10 flights - which in fitbit world is 1 flight for every 10 feet in elevation you walk up.

So according to the calendar we have 3 days left of the Summer season - according to the weather man this morning I have 1 - just 1. Then a cold front comes in. I'm kinda sad about that. I love freaking love Summer. Shorts, tank tops, warm nights hanging out with friends sitting out talking until way to late. Sigh - that just doesn't happen much in Winter where I live, its too cold.

However in the spirit of being positive and being in the moment I am going to try to not complain (too much) about the weather and the short days, lack of sunshine, being cold all the time etc... Besides this was in my email and its a good reminder..

If summer resisted fall, KayLynn, it wouldn't really be summer or fall.

Better to celebrate the season you're in... especially those of your wonderful life.

Everything keeps getting better,
    The Universe

So in the spirit of that - I am looking forward to pumpkin stuff - ie pumpkin pie, pumpkin rolls. Oh and boots and leggings! As well as my favorite shows being back on TV.

What are you looking forward to??

And the weekend is here and I am random today..

Its the 10K weekend.. Going to pick up my packet tomorrow - race is early Sunday morning.  Went last night and got a new hair style of sorts - we changed up the color and tamed the bob back down (that sounded way dirty lol) I was wearing the back messy and slightly spiked so that's what she calmed down.   She added the red back into my hair - for the longest time we just highlighted.

I'm tuning in satellite radio here - Sirrus anyone??

The back is red as well at the bottom - I just don't like the picture where the back shows LOL - I do love that where the blonde goes into the red it looks pink!

I need to update my measurements this weekend - I'm debating on if I should do that on Monday or Sat. Its been 6 weeks since I took them so its time.

Fall hit - boo hiss I am a summer girl I love the warmer weather and less layers my favorite shirt is a ribbed tank with cutoff shorts and flip flops..  yeah yeah sweaters and boots I get it - I just don't want it!

After Sunday I am starting the Ripped in 30 on the days I don't have baby duty - on the days I do the Hubs can hang with lil man for an hour while I hit the treadmill.

Speaking of lil man - holy hell he is going to be 4 months soon -( next Friday actually, so I'll have to get a new pic of him up) ... WTF - I'm not sure where the time went - I swear it moves faster with grandbabies than it does your kids.

Told you I was completely random today my brain went into ADD mode this morning at 6:20 am and has been on overtime ever since.

And this is post #99! Have a great weekend..

And its the last official week of summer

I am not sure who decided this is labeled the last week of summer, but for the social season it is... I know there are a lot of people who are thrilled - it was a brutally hot summer here this year. I for one am NOT one of those people. I don't yearn for fall. Summer is my favorite - I love jeans and tank tops - you can have your sweaters and boots. According to the actual calendar the first day of fall is September 22.  I will celebrate labor day gleefully (its helps I took an extra vacation day) because I LOVE day's off and get togethers with friends and family but its still summer damnit!! :-)

Weekend redux

Friday night we went to dinner and then hit the couch to read (me) and play video games (the hubs).

Saturday Hubs changed the oil in my car for me - thanks honey Zoomy really needed it.  I went out with friends that night and had a blast - we hit a bar and grill for some really good food. Next was the wine tasting  where I bought a bottle of the sweet wine they were showing - it was some pretty good stuff - I do believe that maybe my labor day drink of choice. Then we hit a patio bar where we sat drank and bs-ed for hours. After which we headed to G-Town to bs for a few more hours.. My head finally hit the pillow about 1 am.

Sunday was the usual errands and grocery shopping followed by comfy clothes on the couch to bitch about whats not on TV until 8 when True Blood comes on :-) - that episode last night was whacked - effing cliff hangers!

I didn't persay watch what I eat this weekend but I did make sure I didn't go bat shit crazy any eat everything that wasn't nailed down. My motto is you still have to enjoy life - if you are not enjoying it then whats the point??

a few pictures from the weekend ..

Thursday Musings - 6 Weeks into Stay at Home Orders

I seriously can not believe we have been "sheltering in place" for 6 freaking weeks now, and I say this as an "I'd rather...
