Getting ready to start the 31 day Jillian challenge

Fit camp has a new challenge within the 60 day challenge - the Jenn's are calling it 31 days of being Jillian Michael's biotch - I'm gonna make her my bitch LOL!!

This weekend I am picking up my stickers (who doesn't love stickers on a calendar!) and a new knee friendly DVD like 6 week 6 pack or Yoga Meltdown and its on like donkey kong!! I printed out the calendar and am ready!!

How are you spending your October??  What are your goals before the holiday season kicks into high gear?

In other news Kansas City is getting an IKEA!! HOLLA It won't be until 2014 but its in the works - wow Trader Joes and IKEA and nothing for you Gretchen Weiners (sorry yeah I went there :-0)

Wordy Wednesday

So yesterday was the appointment with the Orthopedic Surgeon - he won't do surgery until he see's an MRI so that is scheduled for Saturday morning - I was thrilled to find out they do weekend appointments and I do have to attempt to fit that into a work day. About 5 days after that he should have the results  time to read them.  Everything is electronic it doesn't take 5 days to get results but I am not about to piss off the guy who's going to be rooting around in my knee.

I also got cleared to go back to doing light workouts.. YAY!! They are a totally stress relief for me and for some reason when I am not working out my brain disconnects and my mouth eats anything no nailed down.  Bad news is I am out of the 5K game for the rest of the season.  So I have to pull out of the Strides for Breast Cancer 5K in Oct.

Small scale victory I am down a pound despite eating like hell for a week. My knee finally stopped holding on to the water to protect it. The swelling has gone down in both legs!! WOOT

I have signed on to do a 31 day Jillian challenge - I need to go pick up her yoga DVD this weekend - that's about the only one I can do right now without modifying them massively - no jumping jacks or squats for a while.

What to read after 50 Shades... and other stuff

I just finished both Seduction & Snacks and book 2 Futures & Frosting By Tara Sivec LOVED them both. Some parts of them had me laughing so hard my sides are aching. Shes got a sailors mouth as do I and when stressed says whatever comes to mind. Gavin (the 4 year old son in the book) seriously cracks me up, he says all the inappropriate things in 4 year old speak and will take on Drew (his father's best friend) in all seriousness, I do adore the fact that Drew talks to him just as he would a peer who pulls the same stuff.

Now I have to find something else to read. That is the issue with really good books, you want them to last and last and when you hit the end you feel sorta of bummed and it takes a while to find something that holds your interest.

Tomorrow is my Ortho appt so I can see whats going on with the knee - I am hoping to be allowed to go back to working out. I have been a titch restless (hmm who'd have ever thought that would happen) and getting stressed a lot easier without having an outlet. I need to be cleared to do something - even if its just ab work on a mat.

Friday the Hubs and I had a date night at an Italian place where everything is homemade - I do believe I ate  my weight in pasta and tirmesu  which I could happily eat and entire pan of on a daily basis and call it a day.

Saturday I puttered around the house and watched lil man and the Hubs went to my sister in law's and chilled.  Sunday was errand day and I found a new outfit at Kohl's. Tonight I am headed to the nail salon then the couch to relax and see whats on the TV.

Limping across the finish line - I cut the finish clock off as it doesn't count - I did not do the middle 2 miles off the race I did little over 4 almost 4.5 miles.  I was at mile 3 when my knee blew and I was directed to make a right and cut across the bridge and around the corner which would drop me off at mile 5 then the last mile into the finish.



I have an appt on Tuesday with the orthopedic surgeon to see where I stand (lean) with this knee, right now I have my fingers crossed he will allow me to do light workouts.  I am also hopeful that whatever is truly going on we can resolve it soon - there is a mustache dash next month I'd like to do - its a 5k. I think i'll stick to those for a good long while,

Last Sunday's race..

Sorry its late - Monday my post was on the Versatile Blogger Award (which still rocks my socks off Thanks Jenn!!!) So here is the run down now..

Everything started off just fine we were walking a good pace - I had my over the counter knee brace on and was optimistic.  Mile 1 went great! Somewhere half in mile 2 I started to have issues - the knee kept slipping and I would slow down and stretch it back into place, about the 3rd time I did this (about mile 3) I started to hear and feel clicking, not just the normal grinding but a click that reminded me of opening my high school locker..

I'm at this point thinking well shit I'm in the middle of this how the hell do I make it 3 miles more miles when I am now limping at a moderate pace. I stopped for a few seconds and braced on a telephone pole at the intersection and attempted to stretch it out again - this time no dice I took one step and about face planted.  The office blocking traffic at the intersection managed to see that and directed me to turn right and head up the bridge which would drop me at mile 5 then I could limp the last mile plus over the finish line..

So that's what I did and I limped right over to the sports medicine tent and had the sports Dr look it over - his best conclusion - torn meniscus. The urgent care clinic I went to after said the same. I have an appointment with the Ortho Surgeon next Tuesday for options.

I did get a finishers metal, one of the gals at the finish told me I had more than earned it when I tried to give it back to her since I took a shortcut albeit KC's finest told me to and I was brought up to listen to the boys in blue. She put it on my neck and told me it stays. So its hanging at home with my Glow metal - and I am kinda a little prouder of that one - it seriously was sweat and tears to earn it!

Side note I did get a new fangled knee brace out of the deal as well from urgent care - it makes it worse so its in a bag beside my desk ;-)

So random facts:

1. One of the first things I notice about people is their hands - Nails and jewelry especially fascinate me.

2. I have worn acrylic on my own nails since I was 14 - My mother used to practice on me when she was in school for her license. I blame her for the obsession with nails :-)

3. I LOVE the idea of super high heels and I am totally jealous of those who can wear them.

4. I have a strange toy collection in my office at work - which does include a stuffed Darth Vader Easter bunny.

5. I love elephants and have several figurines on my desk - but they have to be really cool ones that have personality.

6. I can not stand to have my hands dirty - I been that way since I was a little girl - I even mix meat with gloves. I am also a germ a phobe I open doors with the sleeve of my sweaters and push elevator buttons with my knuckles.

7. I am fiercely loyal to some people - though when you screw me over or hurt me terribly I will ruthlessly cut you out of my life - I have a sister I have no spoke to since 1997 for that reason.

And the weekend is here and I am random today..

Its the 10K weekend.. Going to pick up my packet tomorrow - race is early Sunday morning.  Went last night and got a new hair style of sorts - we changed up the color and tamed the bob back down (that sounded way dirty lol) I was wearing the back messy and slightly spiked so that's what she calmed down.   She added the red back into my hair - for the longest time we just highlighted.

I'm tuning in satellite radio here - Sirrus anyone?? 


The back is red as well at the bottom - I just don't like the picture where the back shows LOL - I do love that where the blonde goes into the red it looks pink! 

I need to update my measurements this weekend - I'm debating on if I should do that on Monday or Sat. Its been 6 weeks since I took them so its time. 

Fall hit - boo hiss I am a summer girl I love the warmer weather and less layers my favorite shirt is a ribbed tank with cutoff shorts and flip flops..  yeah yeah sweaters and boots I get it - I just don't want it! 

After Sunday I am starting the Ripped in 30 on the days I don't have baby duty - on the days I do the Hubs can hang with lil man for an hour while I hit the treadmill.

Speaking of lil man - holy hell he is going to be 4 months soon -( next Friday actually, so I'll have to get a new pic of him up) ... WTF - I'm not sure where the time went - I swear it moves faster with grandbabies than it does your kids. 

Told you I was completely random today my brain went into ADD mode this morning at 6:20 am and has been on overtime ever since.

Blog link up - a day in the life

Doing Holly's blog link up..

6:15 am the alarm goes off and the snooze button proceeds to get hi until 6:45 - so I think 4 or 5 times... I am NOT a morning person - in the quest to have a real functioning adult life though I no longer work a night shift. (Yes you can find night shift in the corporate world)

6:45am stumble to the bathroom use the potty and step on the scale - if I remembered to grab my glasses as I am falling out of bed (literally ours is up on 7' risers making it hip height for a 5'11 gal) determines on if I can see the display or not.

6:48 am head back to the bedroom and warn the hubs that the light is coming on - he covers his head with the blanket, find an outfit generally jeans, flats and a dressy than a T top.

7:00 am head to the bathroom to brush teeth and put make up on - touch up hair - some days this is totally dry shampoo and a quick pass of the flat iron on any section not behaving

7:10 (yes it really is just 10 mins and yes I do wear a full face of make up) head to the kitchen take vitamins, allergy pills. Prep my protein shake and if I made lunch the night before that from the fridge.

Anywhere between 7:10 and 7:20 head out the door for the drive to work - I pass 3 starbucks on the way to work - If I have left at 7:10 and feel like the calories are worth it that morning I will stop for a Grande Soy Latte

7:30 ish depending on what time I left arrive at the office and head upstairs - toss protein shake in the fridge and go log on my pc - check emails from the night before

8:00am the work day starts - not really going to say much about this because I don't blog about work - I will just say I love my job - I work in the field of IT management.

9 ish am drink my shake

11 ish is lunch and I read the news on the interwebs (I am a news junkie - I read them all CNN, MSANBC, Fox etc I also read the gossip sites) I may blog like I am today.

3 pm afternoon snack - usually a Luna Bar

5pm - day's over workwise - if I don't have errands to run or gandbaby sitting to do I workout in my office and leave at 6

6:30pm at home and starting dinner

7:00 chill for a bit watching tv usually a Criminal Minds, CSI or Big Bang episode - they are always in reruns or something I DVR-ed.

8: 00pm - shower time so I can have time to dry and tame my hair for the next day.

Between 10 and 11 pm is bedtime.

Trying to figure out how and where to fit it all in

Between work all the errands keeping up with dinner and the house, my workouts are back burner again. I don't work out in the mornings because frankly its a miracle I am up at 6:30 to get ready for work. I have naturally frizzy hair so showers are the night before so it can be tamed. Therefore working out would mean 5 am wake ups so I could workout, shower then dry and flat iron the hair - yeah not going to happen. So that leaves the evening in which I am pretty much responsible for the running of the house - why does that fall to the women?  

How do y'all fit it all in and keep the household happy for the most part?

And the scale moves

FINALLY!!! With the research I did on the subject I now know its normal to hold or even gain when you first start a workout - your muscles are retaining water and swelling a bit to protect them for the "damage" that you are doing by working. This generally resolves around week 3 and you see the scale move. SO stick with it and don't get discouraged if this is where you happen to be at the moment .. it WILL happen.

Friday I soaked off my pink & whites and had the gel manicure done - not sure if I am leaving them off yet or not - time will tell - while they are not horribly short they are way shorter than I am accustomed to.
