Where I Have Been ... Life Currently

ACK so its been a hot minute - I have been more active on soical media though so you can always find me on Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat....

My grandbaby was born Aug 19th - oh my stars is she so sweet!! I have spent a lot of time with her and Little Man just chillin.  I've also been spending a lot of time with one of my close friends - shes been having some issues with her newly teenage daughter - wooo been there I nod and hand her vodka ;-).

We go to the gym and take it out on the weights and treadmill. I joined Planet Fitness - I went to the gym at the complex and discovered the weight machine had been broken got pissed and went to Planet Fitness' website and joined.  Lets be honest - the hydro-massage bed is worth the membership fee alone!  We generally meet up 4 times a week work out for an hour hit the massage bed and chat before heading out.

My intention for my blog is to venture more into makeup and fashion with a tad bit of lifestyle thrown in.  Right now I am researching some courses for my certificate and document that journey as well.  I'd like to get a vlogger camera and start vlogging so I am also researching those and trying to find the best one for videos.  Mic quality is a big issue with those, so I am reading reviews and recommendations and reading more reviews.

I will be working on a Fall favorites post soon.  I know I missed both August and September - honestly I didn't have to much to review and the new stuff I have I had not used the products enough to decide if I liked them - much less a favorites status.

I looked at Fall trends to blog on those - frankly Fall 2016 looks just like Fall 2015.. Though I can't say I am mad at it either.  I love last years brown lipsticks and gray tones.  Fashion also looks very similar to last Fall - which looked like the 90's.. I'm rocking the hell out of those looks as well..  I'm happy to have ripped jeans, off the shoulder shirts and distressed Tees! Honestly the grungy glam look is my favorite - so at the moment I just look like I am on point..

Life Lately ..

I've been staring at a blank blogger page for days now.  Every time I started to blog I got called away for other things..

Its been a busy few weeks.  My job was reorganized when a key team member decided to relocate south. So I am getting a handle on the new things.

A few weeks ago I was adopted by this lil guy, meet Griffin - my long haired Maine Coon baby..

I forgot how much fun and how active kittens are.  These were taken his first day home - I think he settled in just fine.  Now days he's waking me up anywhere between 1 and 4 am for lovins.  He's so lucky he's so cute..  He's also hanging out with me in the bathroom in the morning while I am getting ready for work.

I cut more of my hair off and the pink is gone. At times I do miss the longer pink hair but this is a TON easier to deal with.

I've been going through my closets and ditching all of my clothes that are to big, no use hanging on to them plus I need closet space!! Said EVERY WOMAN .

I hit these miles stones this week:

And this is at the 10 mile mark of the 2nd part of the Alice Adventures race.. This medal is a rabbit. Looking so forward to part 3 - the Cheshire Cat!!

For the first time in a long while I read over the weekend - finished 3 books. I wasn't really on social media much. Now I am searching for my next read... whats good???

What have you been up to lately?

Goodbye 2013!! Goals instead of Resolutions

If this rambles a bit you will have to forget me.. I had my oral surgery this morning and am a bit loopy on pain meds.. Yes they gave me the good stuff LOL.

All went well I am just sore. Part 1 of 3 down WOOT!!!

I don't really do resolutions - they just don't really work. Statistically only 10% of New Years Resolutions are ever kept. Truth is because they really are unrealistic. Most are set up to fail as they don't take into account real life. This article by Dean Forbes sums it up pretty well Goals vs Resolutions.

With that said in 2014 the goal I will strive to achieve are.

1. Take better care of myself. I am staring 40 in the face, I need to get my physical, a baseline mammogram, I need to know my cholesterol levels, hormone levels and my thyroid levels. The recommendation is to get your physical on your birthday so there is no way you will forget. Honestly I will give myself until June to get this accomplished.

As part of taking better care of myself - I strive to get more sleep, better sleep. It feels like you can pack it all in and do more on less sleep, but truthfully you work better when you are at 100% which means sleeping for the amount of hours that is right for you. Not everyone needs 8 hours some need more some less. I do my best with about 8. This includes weekends.

I need to stop losing and finding the same 7 pounds. Its unhealthy, its discouraging and basically it pisses me off.  I am not a slave to the scale by any means, but I can tell based on how comfortable my jeans fit. When I am higher I am just plain uncomfortable. My back bothers me more, I get more intense headaches, and when you have a headache disorder that is no bueno.  My goal is to workout about 3 times a week. Which is totally doable I just need to DO IT.  My goal is to get more into weight lifting and kick boxing and to go back to mostly clean eating. I think 3 days a week is a good start and build from that.

I also am making the goal to stop talking negatively about myself. The things I say to myself I would NEVER say to my friends so why the hell am I saying those things to myself about me?

2. My goal is to unplug more often, there is no earthly reason to always be plugged into Twitter and Facebook. It gets more and more under my skin to get together in a group and everyone is face down on the cell phone interacting with people on the internet instead of those right next to them.  We ALL need to be more present in the moment. The first step for this to declare dinner time a NO PHONE ZONE. We go back to eating at the dinner table and having conversations with the ones who are right there with you in 3D.

In my profession I am always connected I have to be. In that way I can't just disconnect it all and spend 30 days or a year with no social media or internet like you see people doing experiments on. However I can ban them from meals and greatly reduce my "consumption" at social gatherings.

3. Just say no to drama and fixing things for people. I find that I get sucked into drama massively to the point where I get stressed and anxious as if it were my own. NO MORE. I can be emphatic and caring without taking that shit on as mine. Its not mine and I will NOT own it. Its yours YOU OWN IT. I will listen to a point I will be empathetic I will even give suggestions on dealing with it. I will not listen to it ad nauseam or at work. You can call me for an emergency. However the fact you are in a facebook fight with your dog walker is NOT an emergency. Call me if the dog walker is bleeding and has to go to the ER that qualifies.  If you are manufacturing your own drama repeatedly do not expect a pat on the head and a "you poor thing, life does hate you, I'm so sorry" you will no longer get it. Besides its doing you no favors. You can expect a  "wow well hows that treating you?" or a "bless you heart, now fix the mess you made".

4. Advance my career. While I do not plan to go back to school and take on yet another student loan. There are things I can do online for free. I love what I do but there is always room to improve and advance.

What are your goals for 2014???

Need Motivation ...

BAM - Here it is...

Here here and here ...

Danni was my fave from the start and then she was the last one standing on her team - you couldn't help but root for her.  She's straight awesome - 121lbs gone, she's toned looking fab but feeling even better than she looks.

She doesn't know it but shes also been my newest inspiration. Her attitude of do not give up stay focused is awesome to see. And her results well that tells you all the work shes put into it.

Put down the donuts - hit the gym!

Hello Friday!!

The end of the last short week for awhile, bummer I was loving the day off toward the middle of the week.

Resolutions are going up on blogs everywhere - I normally don't do resolutions because in all honestly by February 1st 75% of the population has abandoned them however I read a post over on Erin's blog Keep Calm & Sparkle that I liked.  I left her a message saying I really needed to get with # 1 & #5 - She emailed me back with a so do it... Challenge accepted - I so love a good challenge.

#1 Save more and spend less - this will thrill The Hubs to no end!! End of 2012 brought a surgery for me and he ended up in the hospital for 4 days, thankfully we are insured but we have a coinsurance payment, its gotta come from somewhere.  We also have our eye on 2 trips in the next 2 years - 2014 I want to go to Vegas for my birthday and in Spring of 2015 the family is itching to go back to Hawaii - this time we are thinking 10 days.

#5 Be active more - veg less .. Lets face it time is passing no matter what you do with it, you may as well do something productive.  Now I love trash tv as much as the next gal (the Real House Wives anyone??) but no one needs to watch all of everything that is offered on 500 plus channels all the time.  In order to be kind to your body you need to MOVE your body.  When you are kind to your body, it will in turn be kind to you.  Besides I have the Operation Red Bikini to own!

Thanks Erin for the kick in the seat !!

Progress update

I'm so close to goal its unreal... I realize now this mean I have to put thoughts into if this is actually my goal or if I want to take it a little further.  I'm not talking anything major just a 5 lb range to flux a little instead of trying to be ridged about it

I haven't been real ridge through this whole journey to begin with. I am not one of those types that deprive themselves of something because its "bad". I see people all the time posting they feel guilty because they had a tootsie roll.. Hell I don't, its a treat - its meant to be consumed once in awhile - what should make you feel bad or guilty is having an entire bag of tootsie rolls in a 15 minute time frame.

My thinking on this is if I am not going to indulge every once in awhile whats the point? Life is meant to be enjoyed not endured. Lighten up ladies - have the slice of cake, just don't call the whole cake a slice!

a few closer to goal pics - I don't know what it is bout I love the black and white - The bottom pic just wasn't my day - there is something 'off' about it..

Half way there!!!

As of yesterday morning I am half way to my fitness goal so I bought myself a present .. Can NOT wait until they get here..

At present time I am in 2 challenges - one of which due to illness I am WAY behind - however you are not supposed to work out when your sick "below the neck", since I am coughing up anything and everything I have yet to be able to get back to my 31 day Jillian challenge - or in my case the 1 day Jillian challenge ~ that I totally effin rocked LOL.

The second is a Holiday Fitness challenge to keep us motivated through Thanksgiving - this one is done in teams of 5 ladies. At the end there are prizes so I am so hoping we kick ass!!

This next week is going to be fairly busy we have family coming in on Thursday.  I am hoping the weather holds and it doesn't get to cold so we can get out and enjoy some of the fall events around the city.

Have a great weekend!!

I seriously can not believe we have been "sheltering in place" for 6 freaking weeks now, and I say this as an "I'd rather...
