Thursday Musings - 6 Weeks into Stay at Home Orders

I seriously can not believe we have been "sheltering in place" for 6 freaking weeks now, and I say this as an "I'd rather be at home" introvert. I have no clue how the "I am never home" extroverts are dealing with this. I say this with 3 MORE WEEKS to go, as our state has extended the order until the end of May. At that time the state government is "hoping" to roll out opening the state in phases.

I will admit when this started my first thoughts were cool I will start working out in the mornings before working, get the house spring cleaned, organised yada yada.. Ok so what happened was.......  I did get my home office setup but not organized. The basement got cleaned up and the carpet steam cleaned to set up a family room (read no more video games on the main TV for hours and hours). We are going tonight to pull the loveseat recliner duo out of the storage unit and the end tables to finish out the family room.  I also weeded the flower beds and planted a few flowers to make the yard pretty.

We found an amazing sale at Sam's Club on a new tv and sound system for the livingroom. All I am going to say about this is #1 measure your TV stand before buying the new TV. We had to make a temporary extension. And #2 the TV looked way smaller up on the display in the store...

I finished up the winter/spring term at school. Not having a life for 10 weeks paid off. My GPA for that term is 4.0 and I am waiting to hear if I made the Dean's list for the semester. Purdue's dean's list is hard AF to get on.

The laptop I bought on Amazon "new" last August had a full on hard drive failure. I say new in quotes because it was listed as new. However, when I went to Dell to see what I could do about the hard drive, as it was less than a year old, I discovered it was already a year old and out of warranty when I purchased it.  In December 2019 it started having some issues, and I had contacted the seller about them and received no answer. So when it flat out failed, I contacted Amazon. They have a 30 day return policy.

All I will say about that is. Keep asking. It took me most of April, but I got a full refund. I replaced the laptop, but went to Dell directly this time. I will also no longer purchase any major items from Amazon again. Yes 2 day shipping is amazing, but for some things direct from the manufacturer is the best.

I am on school break for a week so I do plan to have some organizing done just not sure how much. I also plan to do that whole "get more active" bit. I bought myself a new Fitbit smart watch. I am tired of being less active and not feeling as great as I did a few years ago, so it is time to get moving again..

Its Wednesday???

I have lost the entire beginning of this week being sick. I woke up this morning to it being Wednesday and wondering where the hell the days went. I have been down and out for the count since Sunday.  I am now feeling better, but tired as hell. I needed a nap by the time I got to the office this morning!  Last week I ended up with pink eye.. I swear I am getting a bubble suit.

On the upside - I really don't eat when I am sick so there went 4 pounds!! Downside, I'm exhausted and it shows. Today is a struggle to just keep my eyes opened. Plus I have this wonderful cough that sounds like I'm a life long coal miner and my nose in now peeling after going through a box of Kleenex in just 24 hours..

Before I caught the martian death cold I had gotten some packing started. The donation pile is up to a trash bag and a few items in a box. I have not yet hit my closet yet so the pile will grow.  I also have a metric shit ton of kitchen items that need purged.  I'd really love to toss it ALL out and start over, but that is not feasible so.... However I do have a list of shit that is getting replaced starting with the couch!  The cat has -ahem - modified the upholstery on one leg.. The fabric/unfinished wood look isn't my thing! :-)

I will say in packing things up I have come across one of the only cards my dad gave me on his own, instead of the traditional mom buys a card for the occasion and signs it from both parents type of card. It is also one of the only times he ever wrote something more than "Love Dad" on anything. I have decided once the move is over and things are settled. I am taking that card to the tattoo shop and that is what is going on my wrist. I love that it will be something he wrote and in HIS hand writing.

That is the kinda stuff I do love finding when going through things. Tax returns from 15 years ago, not so much, a sappy love letter from when you started dating your spouse? Totally!  Unfortunately, more of what I have found so far hit the tax returns of 15 years ago category. My "to shred" pile is HUGE.  I have to go opt out of the pre-screened credit card offers and save a tree or fifteen!

I am trying to view all this as early Spring cleaning! Heads phones in, music on and dancing while I toss, shred and pack!

So What Wednesday & Lil Man's Birthday Month!!

So What Wednesday

If you think you're charming ...  that only gets you by for 15 minutes after that you better know something.

If you were the 'it' thing in high school - its now the real world and they don't care.

If the weather guy is just reporting what the computer models say - when he tells me its going to snow May 3rd I get to flip him off... Today its 80 ... The end of the week its this...... May freaking 3rd - yes i'm seriously unhappy about it!!

If I have been saying I was going to Spring clean the last 2 weeks in a row, Springs not over - heck based on this weeks forecast Mother Nature's keeping it hostage!

If I am a grown women - a Darth Vader potato head still needed to be on my desk in my office!!

Its May 1st witch brings up to lil man's birthday month - I can't believe how fast this last year has gone by - seems like just yesterday his mama was still pregnant.

Today when the city tested the tornado sirens I was reminded of last year when I had taken Peep (lil man's mama - I have called her Peep for years) to Walmart and a tornado had been spotted - we were stuck in the bathroom for over an hour. All I could think of was please don't go into labor in here with a tornado landing.  She was 9 months pregnant at the time and every time they would get ready to call all clear the sirens would go off again.

Lil Man an hour old - he stole my heart immediately

Little Man at 10 months - taken 3/30/13

Manic Monday

Its been a busy Monday this far. Crossed off several things on my to do list here at the office. So its been a productive busy Monday.

This weekend was pretty low key. Saturday D worked, then when he got off work we headed out to Granite City to grab a quick burger - then down to visit lil man.. I can't believe how big he has gotten or the fact his first birthday is right around the corner. Isn't he just the cutest???

Sunday I just puttered around the house watched TV read a bit.. D took my car to see whats up with the breaks they have been making a screeching noise for a while - but they are not worn out so who knows.. This morning its at the shop to have the back breaks done because I can't deal with the noise any longer.

I probably should have shoveled out the closets over the weekend I just didn't have the motivation to do so the couch was soooo inviting ;-). Oh well theres always next weekend or an evening after work this week.

Wham Bam - Random Wednesday

The weather man promised Spring weather after yesterday's snow... WTF its the end of April - you can stick your snow.... yeah you get the picture, winter - over it.

High school cattiness from women never goes away and with the internet its more abundant as they can 'hide" behind silly screen names and an IP address - doesn't matter your still a bitch.

I unknowingly have been living under a rock in blogdom - I had no clue Dooce was getting divorced.. So sad - they seemed to really click and be the perfect lid/pot combo.

Got new specs - why is it the nose pads that always give me grief getting adjusted to.

I need to spring clean and take stuff to Goodwill.

Also thinking about totally revamping the blog.

I would really like to see P!nk when she comes to the Sprint Center in November.

Totally loving this song at the moment....
