The One Where the Car Ate My Couch

Some how when you are driving an older car it just knows you have funds saved and a plan for it.  We were going to go couch shopping over the weekend Made plans to go on Sunday, I had checked out the Furniture Mall out on line had looked a few possibilities picked a few to go look at and my car said yeah nope.

Wednesday on my way home the car started acting wonky. I limped it home and then decided it needed to go to the shop we always use. I just made it. Pulled in with a crap ton of racket the car shuddered and all the dash light came came on. The power steering belt had broke taking out the alternator belt and some other belt was shredded in the engine bay.. Fun times! It also was misfiring and 3 spark plugs were fouled out. WEEEEE! The icing -- It needed a font brake job and roters as they were original - did I mention the car is a 2002...

My mechanic said do the work it will last through the Summer then you can think about trading it in. OK lets do it. Oh and in a few weeks it needs new tires.. YAY!!  So he does the work I go to pick up the car and Bill says hey you know its still a really solid car. Yeah it has cosmetic issues - read rust from the boat ride to the US. However it should last you a few more years.. I looked at him and said wait what?? Seriously?? Then fix the AC.  So it went back in today to get that done.  No AC in a Midwest summer sucks ass.

Suddenly not having the new couch isn't that big of a deal - I'll go to home goods and get new pillows for it.  I wasn't really ready to get a new car, yeah I talk about it but I am really really fond of my car and pretty attached - rust and all. Plus hello a few more years of NO CAR PAYMENTS - that ROCKS! I haven't had a car payment in over 7 years. I'm okay with that..

So back to saving....

Currently and Updates

Whoops - apparently I needed some time off.  Professionally its just been a busy Summer and frankly that has taken up all my energy.

Slowly I do mean slowly at its been over a year now my back has been healing. I go more and more time between flareups.

My mom, who's getting up there in age - she was 73 her last birthday. Every time I get that call I worry shes done major damage - thus far its just been bumps and bruises.

My daughter is suppose to leave next week for college. Shes obtained family housing for her and my grandbaby.  She will be almost 3 hours away so I am nervous as all hell, but its time she finally gets her ass in gear. She will be 24 in 2 weeks!

I had a few car repairs to do - I got my AC recharged and Friday before last, my muffler got tired of hanging on so it got replaced.

Even not being able to workout I dropped 10 lbs that I had found when I first hurt my back - here's hoping to being able to being able to workout again regularly soon.

After having to wait forever because life kept happening I FINALLY got my 4th tattoo:

It is a path of life tat on my left wrist. Several people have asked what it "means" it is representative pf an infinite number of possibilities and expression of love. It illustrates life's twits, turn, and unexpected winds. One side is is heavier than the other that is referred to as a twisted loop and the fact that there are more than one twists incorporates the cooperation of two or more parties unifying for life. Which can mean marriage, friendship or an alliance.

I have to admit while being in the middle of having this one done, talks were happening planning the next one...

I will attempt to blog more often, August perhaps maybe hit or miss with the whole get the Kiddo off to college.  I have a girls trip planned to St. Louis over Labor Day - after that things should start to even out.

What are your end of summer plans??

Manic Monday

Its been a busy Monday this far. Crossed off several things on my to do list here at the office. So its been a productive busy Monday.

This weekend was pretty low key. Saturday D worked, then when he got off work we headed out to Granite City to grab a quick burger - then down to visit lil man.. I can't believe how big he has gotten or the fact his first birthday is right around the corner. Isn't he just the cutest???

Sunday I just puttered around the house watched TV read a bit.. D took my car to see whats up with the breaks they have been making a screeching noise for a while - but they are not worn out so who knows.. This morning its at the shop to have the back breaks done because I can't deal with the noise any longer.

I probably should have shoveled out the closets over the weekend I just didn't have the motivation to do so the couch was soooo inviting ;-). Oh well theres always next weekend or an evening after work this week.
