Saturday I had an appointment to tour the ONLY trade school in the immediate area that offers esthetician courses AND financial aid. Our local community college offers classes but no aid. I'm not exactly sure why they do not offer aid unless you are taking the cosmetology courses for hair.
Frankly my school tour left a lot to be desired. This is a for profit school I would have thought that that the initial tour and meeting would have been more impressive. It felt almost like they were doing me a favor. This course is a pretty extensive course and expensive. The school itself feels run down, modge podged together and realistically I couldn't stop thinking, this is the place I bought my wedding dress. Its the old David's Bridal building that has been converted to classrooms and a salon.
I took the weekend to think about it, I called this morning and cancelled the financial aid meeting I had scheduled for tomorrow evening. I will do some more research and figure out a different way to achieve my goals, its just a bump in the road. I just find it hard to process that in a bigger city there is only ONE trade school- just where is everyone getting their training. You can NOT throw a stone without hitting a spa in this town - they are practically on every corner, but where are they getting the skills??
