15 Assumptions you should make...

Link to the original post I saw ..
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/anne-theriault-/15-assumptions-you-should-make-today_b_2946165.html

1. Assume that you are loved.
2. Assume that those who love you find some kind of value in you and the things you do.
3. Assume, however, that you don't need to be valuable in order to be worthy of love.
4. Assume that there is no one out there keeping a tally of all of your failings, ready to throw it in your face when you're either feeling too good or too awful about yourself.
5. Assume that if anyone actually is keeping a tally of all your failings, that act says more about them than it does about you.
6. Assume that you can't make all of the people happy all of the time; maybe not even some of the people some of the time.
7. Assume that you will, over the course of your life, sometimes anger or disappoint the people you love.
8. Assume that when this happens, it isn't the end of the world, even if that's what it feels like.
9. Assume that there is never an end to learning, or growing, or discovering.
10. Assume that you will always find a way out, even when all the doors slam shut and everything feels impossible.
11. Assume that sometimes earnestness and optimism can trump irony and cynicism.
12. Assume that it's possible to recapture the way you felt when you were young, how the perfect clockwork mechanism of the universe used to leave you breathless and giddy with wonder.
13. Assume that there will always be more stories to tell, or at the very least new ways of reinterpreting old fables.
14. Assume that nothing is permanent, that someday even the sun will disappear; remember that everything we see and touch and taste is made of stars that grew and pulsed and died long before this planet ever existed.
15. Assume that you are under some kind of obligation to make the world a better place.

Birthday Swap box

I participated in my first blog swap, it was a birthday themed swap and since my Birthday was this month I just couldn't NOT participate.

I was linked up with Megan  I discovered we have so much in common its actually scary. We are very similar in style, taste and personality. We also work in the same industry!

She spoiled me rotten in the birthday swap.

I received 2 great nail polishes, one a silver glitter the other a nice pink, body lotion, body gel from Victoria Secrets, a bath scrubbie, a mug, star wars treat container - which a set sits on each of my offices, one a work and in my home office. A to die for scarf which I have worn several times.

I had a blast participating in this swap and hope to swap again.

Wordless Wednesday

Now as the summer fades, I let you slip away
You say I'm not your type, but I can make you sway
It makes you burn to learn you're not the only one
I'd let you be if you put down your blazing gun

Now you've gone somewhere else far away
I don't know if I will find you (Find you, find you)
But you feel my breath on your neck
Can't believe I'm right behind you (Right behind you)

'Cause you keep me coming back for more
And I feel a little better than I did before
If I never see your face again, I don't mind
'Cause we got much further than I thought we'd get tonight

Sometimes you move so well it's hard not to give in
I'm lost, I can't tell where you end and I begin
It makes me burn to learn you're with another man¹
I wonder if he's half the lover that I am

Now you've gone somewhere else far away
I don't know if I will find you (Find you, find you)
But you feel my breath on your neck
Can't believe I'm right behind you (Right behind you)

'Cause you keep me coming back for more
And I feel a little better than I did before
If I never see your face again, I don't mind
'Cause we've gone much further than I thought we'd get tonight

Baby, baby, please believe me
Find it in your heart to reach me
Promise not to leave me behind (Promise not to leave me behind)
Take me down, but take it easy
Make me think, but don't deceive me
Torture me by taking your time (Torture me, torture me)

'Cause you keep me coming back for more
And I feel a little better than I did before
If I never see your face again, I don't mind
'Cause we got much further than I thought we'd get tonight (Torture me, torture me)

You keep me coming back for more
And I feel a little better than I did before
If I never see your face again, I don't mind
'Cause we've gone much further than I thought we'd get tonight

Weekend Shenanigans

Friday night was a quiet night at home after I went and picked up some cold weather gear for the 5k the next day.

Saturday I wake up to temps in the teens and seriously question my sanity..  But I really wanted the experience  medal... Whats not to want it has Tiara's on it!!  I did finish pretty decent considering it was my first one back from surgery in November  and it was 19 degrees out (it was ok cold my protein bar froze as I was trying to eat it). Official time was 47:33.7 (race was done in waves I started about 13 minutes into the race - but it was chip timed so thats where my official time comes from) I'll take it.

After the race I hit the Starbucks drive through and ordered a 55 gallon drum of Soy Latte then headed home to change so I could run to the mall (got my Mama's birthday present) pick a few things up a CVS and run the Hubs some lunch before the snow storm hit..

Saturday night was a lets stay warm and catch up on the DVR night, plus soreness was starting to set in.

Sunday I woke up to 8 inches of snow... Yeck and HOLY SHIN SPLINTS BAT MAN.. I was expecting them with it being the first race of the season but I stepped out of bed and couldn't decide if I wanted to cuss like a Fleet of Sailors or bawl like a toddler who is told Cheerios are no longer made.

I did manage to vacuum the house late Sunday afternoon - other than that I ate Ibuprofen like tic tacs (it was on my shopping list as "metric shit ton of Ibuprofen"), read my kindle and watched TV.  Hubs shoveled out both cars, ran to the store and made me my fave potato sausage soup.. Thanks baby!!

How was your weekend??

Friday Letters

Dear FB friend I can blame the damn groundhog if I want to - I don't give a damn about meteorological spring. I'm joking and its my wall.. Something you don't like seeing there is an X over there ~~~> hit it hide my posts hide me hide what ever but don't bitch me out because you are tired of seeing it.. again ITS MY DAMN WALL.

Dear well meaning friends - I love you but NO you don't get to scold me like a child because I started smoking again. I am aware I failed I don't need you rubbing my nose in it. Hell I am older than most of you anyhow, so why do you feel you get to talk to me like i'm a precocious child?

Dear weekend thank you for finally getting here - its going to be a busy one but I am hoping to find some downtime .. I feel like a windup toy who never winds down.

Dear Spring, please get here I'm tired of being cold, wet and gloomy. I'd really like to see the sun and get warm.

Need Motivation ...

BAM - Here it is...

Here here and here ...

Danni was my fave from the start and then she was the last one standing on her team - you couldn't help but root for her.  She's straight awesome - 121lbs gone, she's toned looking fab but feeling even better than she looks.

She doesn't know it but shes also been my newest inspiration. Her attitude of do not give up stay focused is awesome to see. And her results well that tells you all the work shes put into it.

Put down the donuts - hit the gym!

Someone give Mother Nature a Prozac - and other randoms

Hello Mother Nature PLEASE fricken separate from Old Man Winter like post hasties - this shit is beyond old and I am sick of being cold!!!  It was not fair to give us an 80 degree day then snatch it back and leave snow..

Ok that rants over .. but seriously the ground hog said an early spring - so now I'm taking a hit out on that fuzzy lil bastard.

Saturday is the Diva Dash - may the knee gods smile on my knee. Its still not right after the surgery so this maybe a challenge - depending on how this goes it maybe my last 5k.

Princess Peep and Lil Man moved out last Thursday its been pretty quite the last few days .. Missing his laugh a lot. He is a really happy baby so his coos and laughs are constant.. The Hubs and I are picking him up on Sunday for a day out with Noni & Papaw. Looking forward to spending the day with him.

I have been asked if I am going to do a Q & A session on the blog ... email me your questions and I will get a post going for that.

Have a great afternoon and do something nice for someone you don't know. It can be as simple as a smile to someone that appears to be having a bad day.

Bye bye 38 .....

Or as I refer to it as the 10th anniversary of my 29th birthday wink wink.. Why the hell not my Mawmaw was 29 for 10 years as well, my mother attempted to pull the same fete off and was successful until my older sister handed me a calculator and told me the exact year our mother was born... AFTER I had convinced my oldest sister she was nuts and mom was NOT as old as she thought..

Before you scratch your head at the strange family dynamics here, a little back story I am a late in life baby - my sisters were ALL out of the house when I came along so I was raised as the baby AND and only child. HA explains a metric shit ton in regards to how i got as spoiled as I am doesn't it.. I regress AND fall off topic...

We celebrated last night with the family and some friends - this weekend the Hubs and I are sneaking off by ourselves for awhile to dinner then will probably hang with friends Saturday night.  I am taking Friday off - my company gives your birthday to you as a personal paid holiday - I generally try to roll that into a long weekend.  Sounds like this year is a PRIME week to do as its supposed to be in the 70's on Friday.  I see a pedicure in my future as I just bought new flip flops last night!! Plus it always feels DEVINE to get a pedi.. Just gotta get through 1 more day then HELLO WEEKEND!!

I am not Catholic but I must say its kinda cool to have a new Pope on my bday especially the last one in a decade -

a couple pics from last night ... Does the Hubs know me or what...

OMG Love this smile - I melt!

Busy Saturday

Its been a pretty busy Saturday around here - had a slight urgent office matter to attend to this morning then off to get my nails done and some grocery shopping.  I ended up going to the store twice today and it seems like from 9:30 - 4 all I did was run run run..

Its all good though the only thing on tomorrows schedule is lose an hour of sleep, hit the movies, can't wait to see Silver Linings Playbook then home to straighten up  finish laundry and get ready for the next coming week - which is slammed full.

Today at Wal-Mart I came across Jillian Michael's 14 day Cleanse and Burn - I was intrigued so I bought it - now this little box makes me slightly nervous - hopefully its not as punishing as her workouts. Fingers are crossed - I need a jump start back on the right track.  When I stopped smoking (6 weeks and counting) the fitness kinda got the hold button pushed on it.  So I have stalled and need to get roaring back into things - I also have a 5k in 2 weeks I have to "cram" for.

So tomorrow I'll start the Cleanse & Burn and hope for the best. Has anyone else tried it? Tips, things to look for?  Results??

Shout out to my new followers - 67 and counting! Glad you stopped by, say hi!

Saturday pics...

Excuse the cuticles - they are always super dry when I get them done... New pink & whites - so ready for Spring.

The next 2 pics are just ones that make me smile - huge smiles...

Lil Man's first taste of Chocolate Cake..

This little gem is the newest in my office collection - cracks me up every time I see it.

To tickle your funny bone

Some days I swear I really do feel like this woman's midweek - enjoy..

A WOMAN'S WEEK AT THE GYM

If you read this without laughing out loud, there is something wrong with you. This is dedicated to everyone who ever attempted to get into a regular workout routine.

Dear Diary,
For my birthday this year, my daughter (the dear) purchased a week of personal training at the local health club for me.

Although I am still in great shape since being a high school football cheerleader 43 years ago, I decided it would be a good idea to go ahead and give it a try.
I called the club and made my reservations with a personal trainer named Belinda, who identified herself as a 26-year-old aerobics instructor and model for athletic clothing and swim wear.

My daughter seemed pleased with my enthusiasm to get started! The club encouraged me to keep a diary to chart my progress.

MONDAY:
Started my day at 6:00 a.m. Tough to get out of bed, but found it was well worth it when I arrived at the health club to find Belinda waiting for me. She is something of a Greek goddess -- with blonde hair, dancing eyes and a dazzling white smile. Woo Hoo!! Belinda gave me a tour and showed me the machines. I enjoyed watching the skillful way in which she conducted her aerobics class after my workout today. Very inspiring! Belinda was encouraging as I did my sit-ups, although my gut was already aching from holding it in the whole time she was around. This is going to be a FANTASTIC week!

TUESDAY:
I drank a whole pot of coffee, but I finally made it out the door.
Belinda made me lie on my back and push a heavy iron bar into the air then she put weights on it! My legs were a little wobbly on the treadmill, but I made the full mile. Belinda's rewarding smile made it all worthwhile. I feel GREAT! It's a whole new life for me.

WEDNESDAY:
The only way I can brush my teeth is by laying the toothbrush on the counter and moving my mouth back and forth over it. I believe I have a hernia in both pectorals. Driving was OK as long as I didn't try to steer or stop. I parked on top of a GEO in the club parking lot.
Belinda was impatient with me, insisting that my screams bothered other club members. Her voice is a little too perky for early in the morning and when she scolds, she gets this nasally whine that is VERY annoying. My chest hurt when I got on the treadmill, so Belinda put me on the stair monster. Why the Hell would anyone invent a machine to simulate an activity rendered obsolete by elevators? Belinda told me it would help me get in shape and enjoy life. She said some other shit too.

THURSDAY:
Belinda was waiting for me with her vampire-like teeth exposed as her thin, cruel lips were pulled back in a full snarl. I couldn't help being a half an hour late, it took me that long to tie my shoes.
Belinda took me to work out with dumbbells. When she was not looking, I ran and hid in the restroom. She sent another skinny bitch to find me .
Then, as punishment, she put me on the rowing machine -- which I sank.

FRIDAY:
I hate that bitch Belinda more than any human being has ever hated any other human being in the history of the world. Stupid, skinny, anemic, anorexic little cheerleader. If there was a part of my body I could move without unbearable pain, I would beat her with it.
Belinda wanted me to work on my triceps. I don't have any triceps! And if you don't want dents in the floor, don't hand me the damned barbells or anything that weighs more than a sandwich. The treadmill flung me off and I landed on a health and nutrition teacher. Why couldn't it have been someone softer, like the drama coach or the choir director?

SATURDAY:
Belinda left a message on my answering machine in her grating, shrilly voice wondering why I did not show up today. Just hearing her made me want to smash the machine with my planner. However, I lacked the strength to even use the TV remote and ended up catching eleven straight hours of the Weather Channel.

SUNDAY:
I'm having the Church van pick me up for services today so I can go and thank GOD that this week is over. I will also pray that next year my daughter (the little shit) will choose a gift for me that is fun -- like a root canal or a hysterectomy.
